Community Health Care

PANELISTS:
Dr. David Greisler, Panel Moderator, York College
Dr. Kevin Mosser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, WellSpan Health
Stacey Youcis, Vice President, Operations, Lancaster General Health
Rick Lee, Administrator, Delaware Valley Health Insurance Trust

Dr. David Greisler (York College) moderated the panel. Participants included Dr. Kevin Mosser
(Executive Vice President and COO, WellSpan Health), Stacey Youcis (Vice President of
Operations, Lancaster General Health), and Rick Lee (Administrator, Delaware Valley Health
Insurance Trust or DVHIT).

Dr. Greisler began by noting the tensions of three key drivers of the healthcare system—cost,
quality, and access.

Mr. Lee spoke of the impact on cost of DVHIT. DVHIT is a member based program to drive
down costs to municipalities for health care. The savings are significant—over 30% as compared
with regular insurance carriers. He described how the approach works.

Q and A focuses on a number of questions that absorbed the remainder of the session: Can
technology make the healthcare system for efficient? Examples of technology helping--
electronic scheduling of appointments, electronic records, and using Skype for physicians to
speak with patients in underserved area (such as rural areas).

Another issue that generated discussion was the difference in orientation toward the healthcare
system by Baby Boomers as opposed to Millennials. Implications of this for service delivery
were discussed.
